About This Course

Working at height is a common but often underestimated risk in the food and beverage industry. From changing light fixtures to reaching storage shelves, these tasks carry serious safety responsibilities. This course is designed to equip hospitality teams with the knowledge and practices needed to work safely at height, reducing risk and protecting both staff and guests.

In this course, you will learn:

• What counts as working at height and the tasks it includes

• How to conduct proper risk assessments before starting a task

• Common hazards in F&B venues and how to manage them

• How to use ladders, PPE, and equipment safely and correctly

• Best practices for elevated platforms, scaffolding, and outdoor work

• Emergency response planning and accident reporting procedures

Each chapter includes a short quiz, with a final assessment at the end of the course. Successful completion earns a certificate in “Working At Height.”

Course Curriculum

4 Chapters

Chapter 1 - Understanding Working at Height Regulations
Covers key UK and EU laws such as the Work at Height Regulations 2005, defines working at height, and explains employer and employee responsibilities.
Chapter 2 - Risk Assessment and Hazard Identification
Outlines how to assess risks before working at height, identify common hazards in F&B settings, and apply control measures to prevent accidents.
Chapter 3 - Safe Working Practices at Height
Details correct ladder use, PPE requirements, and best practices for working on elevated platforms to maintain safety and stability.
Chapter 4 - Emergency Preparedness and Accident Response
Explains how to create emergency plans, conduct rescue operations, provide first aid for falls, and properly report accidents or near misses.
