About This Course

A positive guest experience begins with a respectful and inclusive team. In the hospitality industry, embracing equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) helps create a supportive work environment, stronger teamwork, and service that reflects the diverse world we live in. This course gives F&B employees the tools to understand EDI principles and apply them in daily interactions—with colleagues, guests, and management.

In this course, you will learn:

• What equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) mean in a hospitality context

• How unconscious bias affects decisions and workplace dynamics

• How to use inclusive language and show cultural awareness

• The importance of inclusive service and respectful guest interactions

Each chapter includes a short quiz, with a final assessment at the end of the course. Successful completion earns a certificate in “Equality, Diversity & Inclusion for Hospitality.”

Chapter 1 - Introduction to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion
Defines equality, diversity, and inclusion, explains their relevance in the F&B industry, and outlines legal responsibilities under the UK Equality Act 2010.
Chapter 2 - Understanding and Recognising Unconscious Bias
Explores how unconscious bias affects decisions and behaviour, provides examples from hospitality, and offers strategies to minimise bias in daily interactions.
Chapter 3 - Creating an Inclusive and Respectful Environment
Covers inclusive communication, cultural awareness, and how to foster mutual respect among diverse employees and guests.
Chapter 4 - Inclusive Guest Service
Explains how to serve diverse customers respectfully, address accessibility and dietary needs, and communicate inclusively to enhance guest satisfaction.
Chapter 5 - Promoting EDI in Team Dynamics
Focuses on teamwork, inclusive decision-making, and fair conflict resolution to strengthen collaboration in diverse hospitality teams.
Chapter 6 - Benefits of EDI for Personal and Professional Growth
Highlights how embracing EDI boosts job satisfaction, team performance, leadership development, and overall workplace well-being.
